dance poster

currently in illustration we are doing a spring dance poster for booker high school's dance concert. We got to go to their class and photograph and sketch them, that was pretty nifty. Here's my poster....WIP. *The top one is the most recent version

hallmark workshop

So the workshop is done and over with.... I guess now I have to work on everything I've been putting off for the past 3 days. Oi. Anyways, the workshop was an amazing experience. We critiqued everyones ideas for the first to days, then yesterday we set to work. The assignment was to concept three different ideas for celebrating or sharing a special occasion. The one i went with was something I would give Mike after we got engaged. It would be a set of three books. One a cookbook (all handmade by me) with some recipes, room to write the experience of the recipe and then space for new recipes we use, find or create together. The second book would be a spice book,containing the most common used spices, what to do with them, shelf life and some fun facts and history. The third book will be about herbs and along the same lines as the spice book. Also I will give him the actual spices in magnetic tins that go on metal bars for the kitchen. On the back of the tins I will make labels for a quick reference for that spice, what dishes to put it in and all that...

so it's been a good day today! I got an interview with the Beall's design group for a summer internship...totally exciting. For those who don't know what Bealls is, its the'florida store' they do lots of children's stuff, so thats pretty neat.

Also...

I got into the Hallmark creative workshop here at Ringling... totally cool as well!! It's nice cause they come for the workshop on the 13th, 14th and 15th of march then they come on monday the 17th to interview for an internship there.... pretty sweeeeet. so yea im stoked.

I keep forgetting about posting stuff I'm doing in my children's book class... So I wrote a story, which I think I mentioned several posts back, did the story boards and now I'm working on the dummy. After I finish that, I need to do a few final, fully colored pages. The jist of the story is : Two little owls are best buddies, they play together all the time and it's all happy. Then one of the owls (Edwin) has to move to another forest far away. Erni is sad and depressed (several emo pages here :P ) His mom then tells erni they should be pen pals, he asks what that is, she explains then he fly to his friend's house right before he leaves and he gives him his address. Erni waits and waits then finally a letter comes. At the this point in the book there will be a physical letter that the reader opens thats attached to the book. He's all excited and writes back...yay. Here are the storyboards...
